Where is Manchester United actually heading to?

There has been speculation since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took charge of the hot seat. One part of a fan base agrees to a fact that Ole is inexperienced in higher-level competitions like champions league, though he himself is a treble winner with Manchester United under SAF. The other part of the group believes in the manager as he is building united culture in the team and playing attacking football. Ever since SAF retired, Manchester United have had three managers and they implemented their own philosophy and failed to meet the expectations of the fans. Playing under three different managers and three different play styles made their own culture disappear.

Ole had flying to start to his managerial career at Manchester United as he went on to beat Cardiff City by scoring five goals: which they fail to score ever since SAF left them. Ole has managed to get the team into the third position in the league with an injury-prone season. Their key player Paul Pogba was out for more than 6 months due to an ankle injury, followed by Striker Martial and then followed by their top scorer Marcus Rashford. But, the arrival of the Portuguese mid-fielder has revived the team from falling into pieces. Bruno immediately made an impact and has helped them to reach third position and semi-finals of the Europa League.

A major question to be answered is "Is Manchester heading towards the right direction under ole and what is the problem that Manchester United is facing right now"?

Clearly, they have outperformed top 6 on some occasions and proved that they are capable of beating anyone yet they fail to win silverware in the last three seasons. Fans were screaming out that the club owners "Glazers and their board of directors are the only reason for the club to be like this". The fact that Manchester United have spent more money than their compatriots may prove that club owners are not to be blamed. On another scale, Manchester United have finished out of top 4 three times since Fergie left. On average they have spent 120m on a transfer window when they are out of the top 4 and they have spent only 80m on a transfer window when they have qualified for the champions league.

For the current seasons, they clearly need an addition on the right flank and are in desperate need of centre-backs. The board managed to secure only the deal of Donny van de Beek and still in negotiations for a left-back and the negotiations for Sancho with Dortmund have been going on for more than a month and yet to reach an agreement. Generally, Manchester United will have a very slow negotiation with any kind of transfer. The major reason behind this slow negotiations could be their Executive chairman Edwoodward whos is apparently a bank investor and assumed to have less knowledge in the footballing world. In this year window, they have contacted Sancho, Thiago, Haaland, Gabriel, Bellingham Telles and Reguilon. while Sancho is yet to be confirmed whether the transfer will happen or not: The reason behind the failure of other transfer indicates that they are going in the right direction.

  • Haaland- hefty wage demand
  • Reguilon - Unacceptable clauses for a big club and a long term project
  • Thiago - demanded huge wage
  • Gabriel - United went in at the last minute while the player has set his heart on their rivals
  • Belligham -  A wonderkid who chose BVB over united cos of the regular playing time, though there is a long history for united in providing talents from the academy.
These transfer fell through is the result of the previous transfer decisions made by the board. They agreed to pay more wage to Sanchez, paid non-reasonable money for Maguire, Paid 60m for average mid-fielder Fred. With all these errors as evidence, One can't deny the fact that they have made a poor decision in the past and it is costing them now in the time of utmost need. We can say Manchester United are heading in the right directions as they are walking away from deal which are unfair for a club like united. Several deals may have fell through because of that and it should be rectified as soon as possible.

If Manchester United choose to negotiate sooner and in much reasonable way instead of adding add ons and paying in installments and the owners are ready to spend more when they qualify for the champions league, It can be assumed that they are heading in the right direction and they can win trophies.

Happy Birthday Jose Mourinho !

I hated Jose when he was at United. Despite him winning three cups for us and that is the last trophies we have had in the past 5 years. I wished he was never at united! I got triggered when he said, “The highest achievement that he has ever done is to get second place with Man United”. A manager who won the treble twice with Porto and Inter Milan claimed that the highest achievement he has ever had is to get second place with us. He has got some nerve, I thought.  As the proverb goes “You won't know the value of the product until it leaves you”. Once he left, everything got exposed. Yes, loved every bit of what Ole was then doing but the amount of mess that Jose left with us has irked me. Slowly the players started to throw Ole under the bus too! This is the moment, this very moment I fell in love with Jose! The accolades that he has got in his past are insane. He won the treble with Porto out of nowhere! Did a surprising turnover at inter Milan. Winning Pep’s Barca at his h...
